Tina Turner by Peter Lindbergh
Peter Lindbergh was a lifelong friend of Tina Turner and took intimate portraits of the Queen of Rock'n'Roll over many years. His photographs not only document her status as an icon, but also show the powerful, cheerful and sometimes introverted woman behind the star in the spotlight . With incredible sensitivity and an unerring sense for impressive image compositions, Peter Lindbergh He captured the radiant energy of Tina Turner in photographs. His images show Tina in all her complexity, full of energy and passion, but also in moments of contemplative calm. For years, Lindbergh accompanied Tina Turner in numerous situations—on the beach or on stage, in the hustle and bustle of the street or on the Eiffel Tower, with all of Paris at her feet—and always captured the real Tina with his camera. His photographs show her singing, dancing, and self-absorbed, thus offering an effortless glimpse into the depths of her character. All of his pictures tell a story and are a testament to her vibrancy and complexity, both on stage and in life. Each of his portraits captures Tina in a truly unmistakable way.
Initiated by a personal foreword by Tina Turner's husband Erwin Bach , this book is an intimate tribute to the friendship and deep connection between two artists who shaped the cultural landscape of the 20th century. It is more than a collection of photographs: it is a celebration of friendship, creativity, trust, and mutual appreciation.
"We were partners in crime," Tina recalls. "He was willing to dare the impossible – just like me! Together we created magic!" The magic the two created lives on in Peter Lindbergh 's photographs continue. This book—a collection of images taken during their long professional collaboration and close friendship—tells their extraordinary story.
