Christo and Jeanne-Claude's temporary art

The work of the artist couple Christo (1935–2020) and Jeanne-Claude (1935–2009) defies categorization. It is simultaneously art, urban planning, architecture, and technology. Surreal and ephemeral interventions in nature and the built environment; complex, provocative, political, unique.

This compact book covers the complete career of the couple, who were born on the same day, met and fell in love in Paris in the late 1950s, and to an unprecedented creative team grew together. Lavishly illustrated, the book ranges from Christo and Jeanne-Claude's earliest projects in the late 1950s to The Floating Piers , installed on Italy's Lake Iseo in 2016. The book naturally includes all of the couple's famous projects, such as... The Gates in New York's Central Park and the Wrapped Reichstag in Berlin, but also shows Early drawings and family photos that were largely unknown to the general public until now.
