Raritäten der Fotokunst

Kirsten Roschlaub

Rarities of photographic art

Helmut Newton, Horst P. Horst, FC Gundlach - the artists whose works will soon be on display in a very special exhibition read like a who's who of photography.

Starting March 15, Galerie Roschlaub and Ca-pitis Galerie will jointly exhibit 25 works in the Roschlaub Gallery's space in Rotherbaum. The photographs – all original, black-and-white people shots – come from private collections and are now for sale. The most valuable is likely the "Mainbocher Corset" motif by Horst P. Horst. An equally famous and spectacular Hamburg motif is also among the exhibited works: the Michel handstand, photographed by Jürgen Schadeberg. Ten of his photographs alone are for sale: five by Horst P. Horst, and three by Helmut Newton. Also included will be works by Burt Glinn, Hansel Mieth, Norman Parkinson, and Arthur "Weegee" Fellig.

"Such a high-caliber exhibition with works by true masters is rare," says gallery owner Kirsten Roschlaub. "We are delighted to offer connoisseurs of timeless photographic art the opportunity to acquire these true rarities for their collections." Photographer Anatol Kotte, creative mind behind the co-exhibiting Capitis Gallery, has also contributed one of his images to the exhibition. It will be on display at Roschlaub Gallery until May 31, 2024.
