ROTHERBAUM
For his second Afghanistan project, Hamburg-based photographer Jens Umbach traveled to Mazar-i-Sharif in 2014 to portray the local people in their daily lives. The impressive results are now on display at the Roschlaub Gallery. "I am delighted to be able to exhibit Jens Umbach's work," says Kirsten Roschlaub. "I am deeply impressed by the intensity of the individual images." Life-size portraits and captivating landscape photographs enthrall visitors; around 60 of the photographer's works are on display at the gallery under the title "The Afghans." "It was my heartfelt wish to realize a second project in Afghanistan," says Umbach. "I wanted to photographically document the people who give this interesting and extraordinary region its character and their lives. This work was very special to me."
