Moritz Morbach is a German visual artist from Hamburg known for his genre-bending works. Morbach's art knows no categories.
Morbach originally studied to become a teacher, but soon realized that this path did not match his creative ambitions. He took courses in goldsmithing and life drawing and prepared for a degree in costume design.
Morbach's artistic breakthrough came with the use of used LEGO bricks, which he carefully cleans, sorts by color, and assembles into unique works of art. His works range from iconic motifs like the Chanel No. 5 bottle to abstract compositions and thematically provocative pieces.
Morbach likes to draw inspiration from the fashion world. "Just like in textiles, it's the different reliefs and structures that appeal to me," he says. "Change instead of stagnation, and diversity instead of uniformity—that defines me as an artist."
