At the turn of the year, Galerie Roschlaub presents three exciting artists, including a double premiere.
For the first time, works by Elsa Gárate are being shown – painted portraits, a genre she had never shown before. The Spaniard succeeds in creating an emotional diversity through nuances in facial expressions and gestures, inviting viewers to infuse their own feelings and interpretations into the work. Press photographer Jochen Blume (1925-2018) also captured emotions, for example, in the face of JF Kennedy during his famous "I am a Berliner" speech in 1963. The photo went around the world. It wasn't his only iconic photograph.

Willy Brandt at Checkpoint Carlie is also one of them. Josef Fischnaller creates photographs, but of a completely different kind. The Austrian is particularly known for his elaborate re-enactments of famous Renaissance and Baroque paintings. The elaborate costumes, made from materials removed from their original context, create a subtext that questions visual memory with subtle irony. Conclusion: Worth seeing three times!
